Subscribe here<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanlivingreport.com\/?p=485\">Will this 13-year-old girl be the next dictator of North Korea?<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Welcome to The Logoff:<\/strong> President Donald Trump is sabotaging a rare bipartisan legislative win for a bill with no chance of passage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s happening?<\/strong> Trump was set to sign a big, bipartisan housing bill \u2014 intended to address housing affordability and encourage new construction \u2014 into law on Wednesday, after it passed the House and Senate earlier this week by overwhelming margins. But he pulled out at the last minute on Wednesday morning, citing his demand that lawmakers \u201cpass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the SAVE America Act?<\/strong> It\u2019s a new voter ID measure that Trump has set his heart on, which would require Americans to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, in order to register to vote, as well as photo ID in order to actually cast their vote<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly demanded that Republicans link the SAVE America Act to unrelated bills or change Senate rules to make it easier to pass, to no avail. Under current rules, it would require 60 votes \u2014 including seven Democratic votes \u2014 to clear the Senate, which won\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Why does Trump care?<\/strong> Voter fraud allegations are a longtime obsession of Trump\u2019s, even prior to his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. In reality, there\u2019s no evidence it\u2019s a major issue in American elections. But he has insisted that Republicans will \u201cnever win another Election\u201d if the SAVE America Act isn\u2019t passed.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanlivingreport.com\/?p=483\">Who gave AI companies the right to build the future?<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>So, what happens to the housing bill?<\/strong> Once a bill passes Congress and is submitted to the president, there are three things that can happen:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>In this case, it\u2019s unclear whether the bill has been transmitted to Trump yet. Even if he vetoes it, however \u2014 which he hasn\u2019t specifically threatened \u2014 it\u2019s likely Congress could override that veto.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h2>And with that, it\u2019s time to log off\u2026<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This week, my colleagues over at the <em>Unexplainable<\/em> podcast are pondering the big questions \u2014 like, is lightning actually caused by cosmic rays?
